Bill Clark and Derek Starr, Discipline Lead, Electrical Engineering at S-E-A, will present a Cozen O'Connor webinar discussing the many challenges in litigating dehumidifier fire claims starting from identifying the product retailer, distributor, and the manufacturer. The vast majority of dehumidifiers are manufactured by just a handful of foreign based companies: Gree, Winix, Midea, and LG. The dehumidifiers usually consume themselves in the fire making product identification difficult but not impossible when you and your expert know what to look for. This presentation will provide a basic tutorial on the major distinguishing characteristics of the physical construction for each of the major dehumidifier manufacturers to assist in product identification. It will also explore who to put on notice so that the fire scene can be released on time. Lastly, the presentation will discuss who to name as defendants and best practices for service of process and securing jurisdiction over the foreign defendants.
